It’s easy to forget about taking family photographs during the whirlwind of those first few weeks after you bring your newborn baby home. However, newborns develop and change so quickly and you wont regret capturing those early, precious times together as a family. I take a relaxed and informal approach to newborn photography, meeting my clients in the comfort of their own homes. I focus on natural images which capture the family relaxing at home together and tend to avoid using costumes, props or special effects. Photographing at home means that we can take our time and work around feeds, naps and tears. It’s great for siblings too and I often spend some wonderful time photographing and playing with big brother or sister while baby has a feed or a nappy change. If you are looking for that curled up, sleepy newborn look, the best time to take photographs is in the first two weeks. However, if that all feels too stressful, no problem! Every stage offers something special, and we can capture the smiles and interaction which come later on. Here is a small selection of images from my natural newborn photoshoots.
