This is what family photography is about. A celebration of all the things that make a family: the people, their home, their interests, their stories.
When we arranged this photoshoot in the depths of winter I knew it was going to be special. We booked it in for May to coincide with two magical events in the life of this family. The first, the arrival of the couple’s fourth grandchild. The second, the annual blooming of the farm’s lovingly restored meadows.
We covered so much in a morning, starting with some photographs of the gorgeous newborn boy and his parents in the house and garden. When his older cousins arrived we walked up to the meadows where a myriad of grasses and flowers were on show, a perfect backdrop for some family portraits. Then, as the day got hotter we retreated to a neighbouring copse. The kids led the way, pointing out their favourite hidey holes and exploring the wildlife, including a very impressive badger sett. Finally we strolled back to the farm to finish with some pictures of the family with their much loved dogs and horses.
How lucky these kids are to have such a stunning natural playground on their doorstep. I hope these pictures will bring back many happy memories of their childhood in years to come.
